A: MakerKit RC focuses on “RC driving and DIY design” – the car body and boat hull are fully 3D printed by the user. We provide the hardware components and an optional remote controller, and support an open community where users can upload, download, and iterate on their own designs.
MakerKit RC is ideal for users who enjoy creating custom designs, want a highly personalized model, and are eager to engage deeply with the open-source community. More MakerKit product types will be released in the future.
Q: What if I don't have a 3D printer? Can I still use this product?

A: Unfortunately, you need at least a standard desktop 3D printer for private use in order to print the body, the hull, and other 3D-printed exterior and structural parts.

For body/structural parts:
We recommend PLA+, PLA+ 2.0, PETG, ABS, or stronger engineering materials for sufficient structural strength. (Standard PLA is also possible, but less stable.) -
For tires and bumpers:
TPU (flexible material) is recommended. Alternatively, separate rubber tires can be used for better grip. -
For the boat hull:
Use waterproof materials and ensure additional sealing (recommended: silicone sealant or epoxy coating).

A: For both versions (RC car and RC boat), the Complete Edition includes a remote control, while the Basic Edition does not. All other contents are identical.
Currently, the remote control is not sold separately, and we do not recommend the use of third-party remote controls. We recommend purchasing the Complete Edition with the official remote control.

A: Yes. We will continue to add new official STL files for cars and boats. Furthermore, we encourage users and players to upload their own designs.

A: No. The drivetrain, sealing requirements, and design differ between cars and boats. We have developed specific remote controls and spare parts packages for each category. Both are fun, so please choose the product that meets your needs.

A: The standard receiver is not waterproof – it is only splash-proof. If you are designing or assembling a remote-controlled boat, we recommend that you waterproof it yourself.
